Egyptian firms to partake in Jeddah fair

Some 260 Egyptian industrial manufacturers will be participating in the eleventh Egyptian products expo, scheduled to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, October 17-26. 

 

The industrial sectors to be represented in the fair include food industries, clothes, textiles, chemical products, mineral industries, shoes, ceramics, construction materials, software, furniture, handcraft, aluminum, cosmetics, tires, engineering industries, plastics, paper products and car equipments.  

 

Saudi Arabia holds first place in terms of foreign investment in Egypt. Some 64 Saudi-Egyptian joint projects were established last year, with Saudi contribution to these projects amounting to EP 416 ($122.3 million). 

 

As for the Egyptian investments in Saudi Arabia, these stand at $84.1 million for 2001. Investments were directed into 30 projects that constituted just 1.17 percent of the total foreign investment inflow into the kingdom.  

 

Bilateral trade exchanges have been witnessing an upward trend since 1990. Trade reached $1.15 billions in 2000, as Saudi Arabia captured 28 percent of Egypt’s total trade with the Arab world. — (Mena Report)
