Mr. Ahmed Al-Tayer, Head of Human Resources Development Committee for Banking in the UAE, said that the total number of nationals employed by the operating banks in the country rose to 6,957 employees in 2005, a 2.2% increase compared with the previous year. Quoted by Al-Yaum newspaper, Al-Tayer estimated at 28.9% the Emiratization ratio in the local banking sector.
According to him, 1,302 national employees (men and women) had resigned from the local banks last year, while 2,977 national employees had joined the local banks in the same year.
