Wholesale costs that Japanese corporations pay to produce their end-products in June declined by the largest amount in history. The 12 months through the end of June saw the Corporate Goods Price Index decline by 6.6%, far worse than the 5.4% number seen in the month prior. Not surprisingly, import prices plummeted 32.3% during the same period as waning demand added pressure to wholesalers to increase the affordability of their products.
