Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak on Monday inaugurated Cairo-Ein Sukhna highway that has been developed by the Armed Forces in cooperation with a group of civil companies.
Mubarak was welcomed by Minister of Defense and Military production Mohamed Hussein Tantawi and a number of other senior officials. The 50-metre wide highway runs 107 km with total cost L.E. 300 million.
Mubarak and senior officials watched a documentary showing the different stages of the 20-month construction work at the road that was launched in November 2002.
The six-lane two-way highway is open for trial to the public as of Tuesday.
Sharqia Governor Mohamed Saifuldin, who inaugurated the highway's eastern gate, said that it would promote the development in this area whose its investments hit L.E. 10 billion. (menareport.com)
