Manama-Moscow flight route renewed

Aeroflot, Russian national airline, resumed regular passenger flights between Sheremetyevo-2 Airport in Moscow and the Bahraini capital, Manama, on December 25. According to an Aeroflot spokesperson, flights will leave 8.35 p.m., Moscow time, on Mondays and Wednesdays and return to Moscow at 7.10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flights will be served by a TU-154m airliner. 

 

Aeroflot planes used to operate a regular route to Bahrain from 1992 through 1995. It eventually was suspended as a result of a decrease in tourist traffic between the two countries. But they have been renewed at the initiative of the Bahraini government and the civil aviation directorate, with the tourist operator Al-Guseibi acting as a marketing agent. 

 

Aeroflot is hoping that the new flight service will to attract Russians and citizens of other CIS countries, wishing spend holidays at holiday resorts in the Gulf resorts. It also plans to offer to residents of Bahrain inexpensive connections to Europe and the Americas via Moscow.  

 

Reportedly, the Russian embassy in Manama has secured easy-term entry visa formalities for Russia citizens. A visa can be obtained at Manama airport for $13. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
