Following the successful completions of stages one and two, Metito has completed the third phase of the wastewater recycling installation works at Dubai Investment Park (DIP). Stage three is a follow up on what Metito initially set out to accomplish which is to meet all the wastewater treatment requirements that DIP needs.

This project comes as an effort to reuse the waste water generated by the factories and residential buildings within DIP’s vicinity. According to Fady Juez, Managing Director of Metito Overseas, he states, “The amount of waste water generated by 10,000 people in the DIP community solely due to water consumption adds up to 2 million liters a day. Additionally, the World Bank states that the Middle East and North Africa regions have the lowest rates of rainfall and potable water in the world, therefore one can automatically deduce that our efforts are indispensable. We need to create awareness in the community that vast quantities of water are being wasted, but with a combined effort, we can do something to prevent this.”

With regards to why Metito placed their wastewater treatment units in DIP, Mr. Juez explains that, “Having a wastewater treatment plant near an industrial area is crucial because they recycle the waste water which is consumed by factories and people. A perfect example is DIP, where we placed our treatment units that are recycling raw wasted water to a level where it can be used for both cooling towers make up water and irrigation purposes.”

Mr. Juez went on to explain that the amount of water which is purified from only one day of consumption in DIP would be sufficient to irrigate around 150 thousand square meters of dry land. In a water scarce region like the UAE, one can see how Metito’s endeavor is central, particularly in an industry like the agricultural one where a large supply of clean water is required.

On the economical side of the purification process, it is worth mentioning that Metito’s efforts have save more than 50% of the total cost of water purchased.
