Mobily signs MOU with Qualcomm

Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM)  a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies, products and services.
 
The two leading companies have agreed to boost cooperation in several projects and issues regarding the wireless telecommunications sector.

The MOU was signed at Qualcomm’s headquarters in San Diego by Mobily’s Chief Executive Officer Khalid Al Kaf and Paul Jacobs, Chairman and CEO of Qualcomm.

 

The MOU establishes a framework which will enable Mobily to obtain assistance from Qualcomm in certain aspects of wireless network operation including Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) digital wireless telecommunication technology and High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) network planning, device specification and other training services that will be provided to Mobily personnel.

 

Khalid Al Kaf, Mobily’s CEO said that the agreement will enable Mobily and Qualcomm to cooperate on new ideas and future technology trends in the wireless communication sector.

 

“We are excited about collaborating with one of the leading companies in the telecom sector. Qualcomm has a substantial presence in the wireless communication market and through this MOU, we will be offered many advantages to meet our customers' needs” Al Kaf said.

 

Al Kaf added that Mobily is always trying to expand its commitments to the market and customers through keeping them updated and linked with the latest technologies related to the Worldwide Web.

 

Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm, said that the MOU creates a path for both companies to explore deeper collaboration.

 

“Introducing the most advanced new mobile services requires not only leading wireless technology, but also close collaboration among developers, device manufacturers and others who contribute to making services a success. Mobily is providing innovative services, and we are pleased at the prospect of applying Qualcomm’s technical expertise and deep industry relationships to help them achieve their market vision,” said Jacobs.
