ALBAWABA – Multiple airlines have reportedly suspended their flights to Israel, Hebrew media reports, amid escalations on various fronts following Israeli assassinations of multiple resistance leaders, worrying of a potential Iranian counterattack.

Passengers of United Airlines, which provides 14 weekly flights to Tel Aviv, have been informed that the airline would not be operating any flights in the next few days. Similar cancellations have been issued by Delta Airlines for the upcoming 48 hours.

British Airways had been reported to have chosen to suspend operations, according to i24 News, with all impacted flights making a final landing in Larnaca rather than continuing on to Tel Aviv as planned.

However, the company issued a statement refuting the claims, saying “our flights to Tel Aviv are currently operating as planned and have not been cancelled.”

A United representative informed USA TODAY via email that “beginning with this evening’s flight from Newark Liberty to Tel Aviv, we are suspending for security reasons our daily Tel Aviv service as we evaluate our next steps,” adding “we continue to closely monitor the situation and will make decisions on resuming service with a focus on the safety of our customers and crews.”

The canceled flights arise after Ismail Haniyeh, the political head of Hamas, was assassinated in an Israeli aggression on Tehran, Iran, and Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr was killed by the IDF in Beirut, Lebanon.
Earlier, the United States Department of State has issued a travel advise for the area, advising residents of the United States to rethink their plans to go to Israel and the West Bank, and specifically recommending that they do not travel to Gaza.
