NBK wins Awards for Best Customer Service, Contact Centre & Project Finance in the ME 2009

As a further testament to its position of regional leadership, National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) has notched up major best bank awards from "Banker Middle East". NBK was presented with awards for: Best Customer Service, Best Contact Centre in the Middle East and Best Project Finance in the Middle East for 2009.

The prestigious Banker awards were presented to General Manager of NBK Bahrain Branch, Aly Fardan, at a glittering award ceremony held on Wednesday 10 June 2009 in Bahrain. The event was attended by a host of senior bankers and executives from the various Middle East banking institutions that have been listed as nominees for the Banker-Middle East 2009 awards.

Commenting on the occasion, CEO of NBK Kuwait, Isam Al-Sager, said that the National Bank of Kuwait took great pride in being awarded these two highly coveted awards, particularly in light of the tough situation brought on by the global financial crisis. He added that winning these two prestigious awards is also a clear recognition of the unique and leading position NBK enjoys region-wise as well as its impressive achievements, outstanding performance, quality of service and innovation.

In awarding NBK these two prizes, Banker-Middle East (BME) stated that NBK was deservedly selected as providing "The best Customer Service in the Middle East" and " The Best Project Finance in the Middle East" for 2009 as a result of fierce competition between major banks in the region. It also indicated that the BME Awards, now in their tenth consecutive year, have become the yardstick for excellence and leadership in the banking industry and host one of the most important annual functions for the financial sector in the Arabian Gulf region.

NBK had recently announced posting net profits of US$ 218 million ( KD 63.5 million) during the first quarter of 2009, while operating income increased to US$ 507 million from US$ 460 million for the same period in 2008. NBK is also the highest rated bank in the Midle East by major rating agencies- Moody's, Standard & Poor’s and FitchRatings.
