Al Bustan Centre and Residence, the popular hotel apartment among visiting tourists and businessmen in the heart of Dubai, recently conducted a mandatory fire and evacuation drill to provide employees and the public with first-hand experience on how to deal with evacuation and the precautions to be taken in case a fire occurs.

In the presence of authorities from the Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Police and the Ambulance Department, the fire evacuation drill was activated with around 87 employees of Al Bustan Centre & Residence participating in the practice including employees from the offices of Thani Investments and Tunisian Consulate.

Once the fire alarm and evacuation message was activated, the civil defence, management team and rescue team hurried to drench the fire on the third floor of the hotel building following the complete procedures as if it was a real fire where all the participants headed immediately to the designated assembly area and watched how the team rescued two persons who were injured and trapped in a building.

Moussa El Hayek, Chief Operating Officer, Al Bustan Centre & Residence, said: “Conducting fire drills and practicing the evacuation plan is really important because it saves lives. We are grateful to the Dubai Civil Defence for their collaboration and support to hold this exercise at our property. We hope to take all the precautions and follow all the measures conducted so as to guarantee safety and security of our guests, employees and tenants in cases of fire.”

Hamdi Abdelkader, one of the organizers from the Civil Defence in Al Qusais, said:”The drill was successfully done and we were completely satisfied about the progress. Carrying out a drill at Al Bustan Residence for the fourth time made it easier for the staff to gain confidence and complete the scenario without mistakes, the response from the hotel staff was very impressive."

Terming the fire drill a 95 per cent success, Corporal Hamdi Abdelkader from Al Qusais Civil Defence added that the only thing needs to be rectified is connection of the elevators and automatic sliding doors to the fire alarm system.

The next fire drill evacuation for A Bbustan Centre & Residence will be conducted in December 2012.
