Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s Authority for culture, arts, and heritage, will host dedicated poetry nights at the ‘House of Poetry’ (Dar Al Sha’ar) in Al Shindagha.

Bringing the Arab world’s time-honoured tradition of poetry reading, Dubai Culture will host two poets each on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30, to provide poetry lovers with verses dedicated to the UAE – a fitting tribute to the spirit of solidary that is associated with the UAE National Day celebrations.

On Nov. 29, renowned Emirati poets Rashid Al Rumaithi and Rashid Al Mansouri, will recite the poems, followed by Saif Bin Harib Al Sadi and Mohammed Almurbilabd on Nov. 30. The poetry sessions will begin at 7:30pm, and are open to the public.

These dedicated poetry nights mark the beginning of the poetry season at the ‘House of Poetry,’ which overlooks Dubai Creek, further enhancing it as a cultural symbol for the UAE’s rich legacy in poetry in specific and for Arabic poetry in general.

The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority is committed to driving intercultural understanding and exchange through the various disciplines of art, while nurturing literary talent to create original content that will further drive the city’s position as the cultural and artistic hub of the region.
