We greatly appreciate HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai for his investment of AED 1 billion in projects and companies taking part in Dubai Future Accelerators. This ambitious international programme was launched to facilitate advanced Research and Development (R&D), and entrepreneurship among some of the UAE’s most important sectors. On this occasion, I would like to quote HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who once said, ‘Shaping the future and making it, is no longer a theoretical concept, but a key factor for countries to achieve competitiveness in the global arena,’” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
“This supports HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s announcement of the Dubai Future Foundation, and the Dubai Future Agenda, to predict and shape the future of strategic sectors in Dubai, and in the UAE as a whole. We would like to reiterate our commitment to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, by adhering to a clear and integrated strategy based on innovation. DEWA works to predict the future to properly execute all Dubai Government initiatives, while continuously supporting R&D to facilitate rapid development.
We work to develop new technology, renewable energy solutions, and adopt the best international practices, including operating systems, mobile computing, cloud computing virtualisation, distribution systems, software engineering, Internet of Things (IoT), robotic technology, and Big Data, to enhance our customer services.
DEWA also makes use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to assist in the energy and water sectors. This supports our strategic vision among several sectors, including smart electricity and water networks.
In adherence with the directives of our wise leadership, and the Dubai Plan 2021, to transform Dubai Government into a world leader for excellence and innovation, the Innovation Centre, located at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, is equipped with the latest technology in the field of renewable and clean energy. Through this, we strive to enhance national energy capabilities and support business competitiveness in the UAE. DEWA takes priority in developing partnerships between the public and private sectors, to benefit from each other’s experiences at the highest international standards, making Dubai the happiest city in the world,” said Al Tayer.
