For the fourth consecutive year, Qatargas’ Shipping Department has been awarded the ‘Sword of Honour’ and the ‘Globe of Honour’ from the British Safety Council.

Representing a “world-class” commitment to safety management as well as environmental management standards, the prestigious accolades were accepted by Qatargas chief executive officer Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani at a ceremony held recently in London.

Sheikh Khalid said, “Qatargas is very proud to receive the ‘Sword of Honour’ and ‘Globe of Honour’ awards for the fourth consecutive year. These prestigious awards are testament to the world-class standards we maintain at Qatargas, and most importantly, they recognise our commitment to operating safely, efficiently and reliably. On behalf of Qatargas, I would like to acknowledge the British Safety Council for promoting excellence in workplace health, safety and environmental management, and for bestowing this honour on Qatargas.”

Lynda Armstrong, chair, British Safety Council said, “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council, I would like to congratulate Qatargas’ Shipping Department on achieving the very highest standards of health, safety and environmental management.  Excellence at this level is very hard won. We are proud to have supported you in your achievements, and I am delighted that you have chosen to celebrate with us.”

British Safety Council chief executive Mike Robinson said, “I would like to congratulate Qatargas’ Shipping Department and its staff for their huge commitment to keeping their workplace safe and healthy and minimising risks to the environment from their organisations’ day-to-day activities.”

Qatargas was one of only 11 organisations worldwide, which won the ‘double’, both the Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour.
