Volkswagen Middle East announced new managerial appointments for its regional operations in order to further enhance its retail proposition. Currently serving as After Sales Director, Desmond Van Den Berg has been appointed as Sales Director, while Guy Edmunds, who currently holds the position of Sales Director, has now been appointed as After Sales Director.

After previously serving as After Sales Director at Volkswagen Middle East, Desmond Van Den Berg has now been appointed Sales Director. Prior to that, Van Den Berg led the After Sales operations for the brand in Saudi Arabia. He has been working with the Volkswagen Group for over 12 years, initially joining the team in South Africa in 2007, where he was responsible for after sales of over 22 African importers. In addition, Desmond Van Den Berg holds over 22 years of experience in automotive.

Taking up the reins of Desmond’s former role is Guy Edmunds who holds over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. He served as Dealer Development Director for Volkswagen Middle East since 2011, before he was appointed as Sales Director. Today, Guy Edmunds takes over the role of After Sales Director with the promise of further developing and enhancing the brand’s position as the industry continues its shift towards digitalisation.

Commenting on these new appointments, Deesch Papke, Managing Director of Audi Volkswagen Middle East said: “With 50 years of automotive experience combined and a track record of success, both Edmunds and Van Den Berg are proof that we have a strong team in place to further drive our growth strategy in the Middle East. Through on-going development of our retail and sales proposition, we are on track to achieving our objectives as we focus on a more digitalized and agile business model and a strategic focus on customer centricity with the onset of electrification and autonomous driving.”

The appointments come at an exciting time for Volkswagen Middle East, which recently introduced a prominent SUV line up including the new 7 seater Teramont and the new Touareg. This comes  alongside the opening of a series of world-class showrooms and state-of-the-art service facilities around the region, as well as major enhancements to the existing network.

Background Information

Volkswagen Middle East

Volkswagen’s relationship with the Middle East dates back to when the first Beetle was sold here many years ago. Since then, the brand has witnessed an exponential expansion. In 2005 Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car manufacturer, confirmed its commitment to its customers and partners in the region with the opening of the Volkswagen Middle East Regional Office based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This initiative has allowed the brand to introduce a wider variety of Volkswagen models to the region and strengthen their dedication to their patrons.
