ALBAWABA – Moscow, Russia's capital, and largest city, is attracting Arab tourists with its newly introduced Arabic metro map.
Arabic map in Moscow’s metro
Maksim Liksutov, Moscow's Deputy Mayor for Transport, announced the launch of the city’s first Arabic metro map, aimed at attracting more tourists from the Middle East eager to visit and explore Moscow.
According to Liksutov, the map will be available on the Moscow Metro mobile app and will be distributed for free to tourists at hotels and information offices.
"We tried to display everything correctly, based on the names, based on special terms that are used in transportation. We hope that [the scheme] will help to navigate well on transportation," Liksutov stated.
Notably, the new Arabic map will feature all the city’s stations with their names and details. It will also include a QR code that can be scanned to download the map onto smartphones.
Liksutov further confirmed the country’s interest in attracting more Arab tourists and in cooperating with Arab countries to develop a more advanced traffic and transportation system, similar to that of Dubai, UAE.
The city is committed to developing its transportation infrastructure, including traffic lights, traffic management systems, smart systems, organized parking lots, roads, and security surveillance cameras. It is worth mentioning that Moscow, with a population of around 15 million, faces significant traffic congestion issues.
