Arabic software company Sakhr announced its collaboration with Intel Corporation for the integration of Sakhr's Arabic speech engines onto the Intel speech platform, Voice Portal Reference System (VPRS) and Computer Telephony Application Development Environment (CT ADE).
A team of over 20 Sakhr developers, linguists and testers from the xompany's development campus in Nasr City, Cairo, has been involved in optimizing Sakhr's Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) engines for the Intel platform. Speech is a key element for applications such as voice portals, talking emails, call centers and Unified Messaging solutions.
This cooperation between Intel and Sakhr comes at a time when the international market is witnessing a transition from touch-tone driven systems to speech activated driven systems, stated Jihad Salman, Sakhr speech products manager.
Using the Intel VPRS and CT ADE and the integrated Arabic speech engines from Sakhr, developers can develop CT applications, with Arabic language support, easily using simple GUI tools such as VOS, developed by Intel for the CT ADE, without the need to write complicated code and scripts.
