ALBAWABA – Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, announced opening the Riyadh metro in 2024, according to The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).

The newest Riyadh metro is 176 km long and it will include 85 stations. The metro is connected to a bus network that has 24 routes with a length of 1,083 km, including 776 stations. The estimated total cost of the project is $22.5 billion.
Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said the project is among the largest metro systems in the world. It is being built in one phase, with an estimated total cost of $22.5 billion, according to Al-Arabiya.

AL-Jasser also revealed that the Kingdom currently has 22 logistics zones and aims to expand this number to 59 by 2030. He stated that several logistics zones are under construction, in partnership with leading international companies like Maersk International, DP World, and others.
"Our efforts aim to transform Saudi Arabia into a global logistics hub, leveraging its strategic location," Al-Jasser noted. It is worth noting that foreign investment into Saudi logistics zones exceeded 10 billion riyals to date.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) revealed earlier that the metro will carry 1.7 million passengers per day during the initial opening phase. The number is expected to grow to 3.6 million at full capacity over time.
