The director of Swiss Tourism, Federico Sommaruga, recently stated that visitors from Saudi Arabia account for some of the biggest foreign spending in the Swiss tourism industry.
More than 30,000 Saudi nationals visited Switzerland country every year, Sommaruga pointed out, according to <i>Arab News</i>.
“The Gulf countries report yearly a quarter million overnights in Switzerland,” he added.
A memorandum of understanding was recently signed by the Council of Saudi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Switzerland Tourism to forge even greater ties in the future.
On the commercial front, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland also have strong financial ties, with 12 joint projects established between them with a cumulative capital of SR1.573 billion.
Furthermore, consistent growth in trade has been recorded, with Swiss exports to Saudi Arabia exceeding $1 billion last year.
