Around 90 per cent of the Syrian labour force in Mafraq [North Jordan] has no work permits, according to director of Mafraq’s labour department, Abdul Hamid Harahsheh.

He said the department is carrying out field visits to businesses to ensure that guest workers have the necessary permits, noting that a total of 60 Syrian refugees have been seized so far for working illegally in shops.

Harahsheh said the refugees leave the Zaatari Refugee Camp under the sponsorship system to seek jobs.
