ALBAWABA- With his 2024 election win, Donald Trump steps back into the White House with a base US president salary of $400,000 per year, an amount set by Congress in 2001 and has been unchanged since.
Despite its seeming size, this salary is in fact rather modest when compared to the earnings of several other world leaders. For example, Hong Kong’s CEO receives $695,000 yearly, while Singapore’s prime minister earns almost $1.6 million, seating the US presidential wage at a fairly ordinary place, as reported by Business Today.
But the benefits mount up. Trump will be earning an additional $50,000 per year as a non-taxable spending allowance for his official and personal commitments, on top of his basic pay. In addition, he receives a $19,000 entertainment budget and a $100,000 non-taxable travel allowance for events held in the White House or overseas.
Upon assuming office, each US president also receives a grant of $100,000 for the purpose of redecorating the White House, increasing the total yearly salary package to approximately $569,000.
But the benefits extend beyond there; as Trump will also have access to excellent amenities and a fully funded White House residency while serving as president. He will additionally enjoy access to a fleet of armored limousines, Air Force One, and Marine One, three of the most exclusive and safest travel options in the world.
Comprehensive medical treatment and healthcare and an around the clock Secret Service security are also included as standard.
The financial advantages persist even after he leaves administration. In addition to a pension of around $230,000 a year, former presidents also receive funds for staff expenditures, office space, and medical care, according to Business Today and Indian Times.
In order to maintain their public visibility, past leaders are also granted official travel reimbursements for their post-presidential responsibilities.
