A Turkish cabinet decision to split the functions of the Turkish Generation and Transmission Corp. (TEAS) has recently gone into effect. According to Turkish daily news, this action is part of the local governments implementing of its proposed energy sector reforms.
This division will create three separate entities, each responsible for a different aspect of the company’s activities. The three new companies will be the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corp., the Turkish Electricity Generation Corp., and the Turkish Electricity Trading and Contracting Corp. The employees of the split up corporation will be positioned in each of the three new entities according to their current duties.
The Turkish Parliament is expected to discuss additional reforms in the energy sector this year, including steps toward the deregulating of the electricity market, aimed at attracting investments from the private sector. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
