With the limited character we get for a tweet on Twitter, it is always a pain when a picture or a link takes up some of those precious characters. However, this might soon be gone.
If recent rumors are to be believed, the microblogging site is currently playing around with the idea of excluding links and pictures from the character limit. Up until now, pictures or links could take up to 23 characters, which would result in longer posts, or other workarounds such a screenshots of text. Twitter was rumored to take away the whole character limit itself, but due to a huge backlash from the general public, they decided to pull the idea.
If Twitter is really taking this step, we can hear about it from Twitter itself soon. This would allow users to bring in more content into one single tweet, without worrying about character limits. Twitter is yet to confirm the feature, as removing such restrictions have been discussed openly as a keystone of the company's effors to retain users.
Twitter declined to comment.
