Official statistics show that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) imports 800,000 tons of serrate iron annually, mainly used by local construction industries, which have undergone significant growth in the past years, although they are presently facing a slowdown. The construction sector in the UAE is expected to achieve higher growth levels, as of the beginning of next year, reported Al-Hayat .
The UAE imports iron from Turkey and the Gulf states. Turkish serrate iron is being used in the construction of major private and public projects including the new Borjman Center, Dubai International Airport, Emirates Aviation Hotel and others. — (Mena Report)
