Dubai Trade, the premier trade facilitator under Dubai World, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates SkyCargo to create a partnership that will allow Dubai Trade to offer Emirates SkyCargo services through its single window portal.

The MoU was signed by Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Group CEO, Dubai World, & Chairman, Dubai Trade, and Ram Menen, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President Cargo, at a brief ceremony in Jebel Ali.

The MoU calls for the integration of Emirates SkyCargo’s freight booking services with the single-window online payment solutions offered by Dubai Trade on its portal www.dubaitrade.ae to enable its customers to get direct access to air cargo facilities. Initially, the customers will pay for the services either in person or through IATA credit accounts.

Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Group CEO, Dubai World, & Chairman, Dubai Trade, said: “This MoU is a well-targeted initiative that will serve as a stepping stone towards the full-scale integration of sea-air cargo movement and, consequently, to further strengthen the competitive advantage of Dubai as the region’s leading trading hub. The supply chain industry as a whole will benefit immensely by this strategic move. We congratulate Emirates SkyCargo and Dubai Trade on signing a far-reaching MoU and wish them success.”

The MoU also opens the doors to future integration of the customer database of Emirates SkyCargo with Dubai Trade’s user database to enable a more seamless supply chain experience.

Mahmood Al Bastaki, Director, Dubai Trade, said: “For Dubai Trade it is only a logical step forward to enable our vast community of traders to easily access air cargo services under one roof. Dubai Trade has always played the role of enhancing trade, the most consistent frontline driver of the local economy. We thank Emirates SkyCargo for placing their trust in our services and we are committed to build on this MoU to achieve total integration of the sea-air supply chain sector.”

The two sides have also discussed other areas of cooperation, including the use of Dubai Trade’s Rosoom payment gateway as an additional channel of transaction for Emirates SkyCargo customers and the promotion of each other’s services at key industry events.

Ram Menen, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President Cargo, said: “With our network of 109 destinations in 65 countries, Emirates SkyCargo brings thousands of international trade connections to Dubai every year. Our partnership with Dubai Trade will not only provide an easy transport link between UAE based businesses and their existing international customers, but it will potentially create new trade lanes for them.”

Dubai Trade Portal (www.dubaitrade.ae) offers a remarkably seamless business flow and has proven to be cost effective for clients using it as the single window that integrates the online services of DP World, Economic Zones World, Dubai Customs, and Dubai Multi Commodities Center.
