Dubai Trade awards excellence in e-Transformation at ESEA 2010

Dubai Trade, the leading trade facilitator under Dubai World, held its 3rd E-Services Excellence Award (ESEA) 2010, by hosting a gala ceremony last night, January 19, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The event was attended by HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, who awarded winners in diverse categories representing the entire trade and logistics business community. 

The event was also attended by H.E Abdulla Bin Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Trade who represented HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, and Mr. Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Group Chief Executive Officer, Dubai World and Chairman of Dubai Trade, and other key dignitaries from the government and private sector. 

The annual award ceremony recognised the six best performers from the trading and supply chain companies that have adopted and maximised their use of e-services offered on Dubai Trade Portal, which integrates the online services of DP World, Economic Zones World, Dubai Customs, and Dubai Multi Commodities Center. 

The winners for 2010 are as follows: 

Exporter of the Year: LandMark Group

Importer of the Year: Fresh Fruits Company

Haulier of the Year: Mubarak & Sons General Transport

Free Zone Company of the Year: National OilWell Varco

Clearing Agent of the Year: Al Mamzar Shipping & Logistics LLC

Shipping Agent of the Year: Maersk Line

Special Appreciation Award: Globelink West Star Shipping

    The ceremony was held at Al Multaqa Ballroom, Dubai World Trade Center, with the objective of

    “Appreciating e-Transformation in Trade & Logistics”, reflecting the ever-increasing demand for cost-effective and time-saving solutions offered by the online platform. 

    Commending Dubai Trade’s role as the premier end-to-end online trade facilitator, HE Abdulla Bin Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Trade, said:

    During 2010 Dubai Trade introduced new e-services, bringing the total number of services offered on its portal to 750 and experienced significant growth in adoption of e-services by the entire community. The total number of transactions on Dubai Trade portal increased by 26% to reach a record 11.4million. More than 35,000 companies had taken advantage of the portal’s wealth of innovative e-services by end-2010. 

    Mahmood Al Bastaki, Director Dubai Trade, said:

    During the ESEA function, Dubai Trade also announced the launch of a new version of its portal, which introduces a host of new and enhanced features designed to streamline the access to trade related information and value added services. 

    The event was supported by HSBC,UAE,  which was represented  by its Deputy CEO Mr. Marcus Hurry. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Hurry said that Dubai Trade's implementation of world class e-Services solutions is a key part of the development of trade as a significant contributor to overall economic growth. “We are delighted to be participating in this evening's event to highlight the success of their initiative," he commented.
