According to Kuwaiti Times, the woman was driving her father to the hospital when she was pulled over in an area located near the border with Kuwait.

The woman explained that her diabetic father could not drive to the hospital and needed treatement, however, the officers were unsympathetic and arrested her, Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Sunday.

The woman is now being held in custody pending an investigation.

The Oct. 26 Women Driving Campaign urged Saudi women in the Kingdoom to protest the driving ban which resulted in 16 female drivers being stopped by police.

While women in Kuwait are free to drive, Saudi women in the Kingdom do not enjoy the same freedom where ultraconservative laws ban women from taking the wheel.
