She might be an international star, getting her film on the list of Cannes nominees, but Egyptian actress, Mina Shalabi is having to slum it like the rest of her countrymen. With the economic crisis hitting the north African nation hard, cast and crew are having to cut back on their wages and Mina is no exception.
The star has taken a pay cut on latest project,'The Eyeliner of a Lady' , directed by Ahmad Saqr. According to reports in the Arabic media, head of the production company behind the drama, confirmed that their budget plummeted from 6 million Egyptian pounds ($US 982,000) to a meagre 4 million Egyptian pounds (US$655,000).
