For the first time in the past 15 years, the organizing committee of the international Cannes Film Festival has agreed to include the participation of the Egyptian film “Baed Al Mawqi’ah” (the aftermath) starring Egyptian actress Mina Shalabi. The last film that took part in the festival was 15 years ago titles “Al Maseer” (The Destiney) directed by the late Egyptian director Yousif Shaheen.
According to the London based Elaph, Mina expressed he joy and honor at the news of including her film in Cannes and said she was in shock when she was notified of the decision of the festival’s organizing committee. Mina said that she placed great efforts while filming the film in the streets of Cairo under the direction of Yusri Nasr Allah, who is considered one of the best Egyptian directors.
Yusri had made the announcement of the film’s participation on his official page on the internet social network Twitter.
The film stars Mina and Salah Abdullah and is written and directed by Yusri Nasr Allah and the storyline is based on events that took place during the Egyptian January 25 Revolution that overthrew the regime of former ousted Egyptian President Husni Mubarak and the aftermath. Some of the scenes were filmed in Egypt’s popular Tahrir Square where most of the Marches of Millions took place.
