In the midst of the anger, sadness and confusion surrounding the Paris attacks, it might be easy to forget that the tens of thousands of refugees trying to make a new life in Europe and the robust Muslim communities who are already there are not the ones to blame.
The wave of xenophobic sentiments following Friday's incidents have been as far reaching as the US, where a growing number of state governments are refusing or resisting an impending influx of Syria refugees set to be resettled in America.
But the good news is, plenty of people are still trying to overcome the hatred—and succeeding.
A video is making waves on social media showing a Muslim man blinfolded in the street with a French-language sign reading: "Hug me if you trust me, I'm told I'm a terrorist."
But the man demonstrating is not the only stand-out In the clip. You see young and old Parisians approach and embrace him, at one moment, you see another woman to the side of the frame start crying.
Released Monday on Facebook by a news site called In The NOW, the video doesn't give us that much more context than that. But as celebrities and activists keep warning that the best way to fight against Daesh may be found in the small gestures that prove the group is not dividing communites, these captured moments show that just might be true.
