Twitter scorn for UK salon who says it will no longer serve Muslims

A woman from Oxfordshire in the UK has been arrested and released on bail after posting on her beauty salon's Facebook page that the business will no longer serve Muslims. The post on the Blinks of Bicester Facebook page was reported to police for racial abuse and faced a torrent of condemnation from social media users.

 

Many are worried that the Daesh-coordinated attacks in Paris on Friday will cause increased xenophobia in Europe, and this is a disturbing sign that they might be correct. The salon owner even attempted to defend herself afterwards in a series of posts which, if anything, dug her into a deeper hole. Although the Facebook page now appears to have been deleted, screenshots have appeared online of what was allegedly written.

She seems to have responded to critics by urging them to call the police, saying that they would be charged with wasting police time as saying what she likes about clients is her choice because she is a private business. Of course, that didn’t work out so well for her.

Thames Valley Police made the following statement on Facebook after the arrest:
