Prominent Syrian actor Jamal Suleiman said that supporters of Syrian President Bashar Al Asad insulted and cursed him after he called for freedom for the Syrian people. Suleiman had also stressed that the government should play an important role in implementing political reform to improve living conditions of people.

According to the internet website MBC.net, Suleiman stated that with regards to Syria either the government enters into dialogue with the opposition and present sacrifices for the future of Syria, or conditions remain as they are with smoke filling the skies of every Syrian city.

The actor added that the demands of the Syrian people are clear cut and all that they are asking for is to live in a democratic country where their rights are practiced freely.

Suleiman stressed that he does not wish to be at odds with the current Syrian regime and all he had requested was that people should practice their freedom to speak out and demand political reform and an improvement to their living conditions. The actor has expressed his disappointment at the way protesters, who are calling for reform and holding peaceful demonstrations, are being treated brutally by security forces.
