Israeli news outlet Haaretz on Wednesday reported US President Barack Obama, to ease Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's concerns on the Iran nuclear deal, had offered him upgrades on the Israel Defense Forces' military capabilities.

Turns out one news outlet had already reported on this a day earlier — the Onion.

The timing was opportune and eery. One Redditor was quick to point out the similarities between the two articles, uploading a photo on imgur that put the headlines side by side.

The Onion sometimes does, in fact, report on real news. If you had your doubts, one quote clears things up: "'Bibi always gets a little cranky when he sees us talking to Iran, but a few dozen short-range surface-to-surface missiles usually cheer him right up,' said State Department spokesperson Daniel Goldman."
