Muslim groups have collectively raised over $82,000 in the last four days to help the families of the victims of the California attack which killed 14 people last week. The Muslims United For San Bernardino campaign has so far seen 760 contributors raise tens-of-thousands of dollars in order to “respond to evil with good."

The money is being raised through launchgood.com, which aims to “support Muslims launching good all across the world.” The Muslims United For San Bernardino initiative described exactly what the funds contributed to their campaign would go towards, saying “all fundraising proceeds will help with the immediate, short-term needs of the grieving families. No amount of money will bring back their loved ones, but we do hope to lessen their burden in some way.”

The campaign was started on December 4, with funds being collected on December 31. It appears that the initial target of $50,000 has been raised to $100,000, and number certainly not far from their sights.

“If we exceed the $50,000 goal, we can even assist the families with long-term expenses or possibly donate to the regional center where the shooting took place.”

The campaign asks for “American Muslim mosques, Imams, leaders, and groups to endorse and promote this initiative.”
