International supporters of the Palestinian cause have used the hashtag “Total Eclipse of Palestine” to demand a change to the status quo during a “Twitter storm” on Sunday.
The Twitter account “VivaPalestina” first made the call to get the topic trending:

The recently released Human Rights Watch report on Israel/Palestine for 2016 highlighted that: “Israel continued in 2016 to enforce severe and discriminatory restrictions on Palestinians’ human rights, to facilitate the transfer of Israeli civilians to the occupied West Bank, and to severely restrict the movement of people and goods into and out of the Gaza Strip.”
Meanwhile, Israel has rejected a recent UN resolution which condemned Israeli settlement activity on occupied Palestinian land. Following what he called the “shameful” decision, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a review of Israeli funding to the UN and recalled its ambassadors to New Zealand and Senegal, two countries who voted in favor of the resolution.
