Libyan rebels have called Arab states to take firmer stances in support of the Libyan people in the face of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's regime. This calls come in parallel with a UN Security Council meeting to discuss the imposition of a no-fly zone in the Libyan airspace.
The Libyan rebels demand that the Arab armies, especially the Egyptian army, will take responsibility in accordance with the Charter of the Arab League and intervene to protect the Libyan people from the massacres which committed by the Gaddafi regime. Sources close to the leadership of the rebels urged the international community to move fast "because the Libyan people are being killed, and each passing hour more victims fall."
While welcoming the broad resolution of the Arab League last Saturday, calling for the Security Council to impose an air embargo, the Libyan rebels are demanding Arab countries not to wait for the Western and NATO moves.
On his part, Najib Taha Zidane a leader of the popular revolution in the eastern region, voiced his resentment over comments made by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who said that what is happening in Libya is a "conflict between brothers." Zidane said that what is happening is a popular revolution against a tyrant.
And on the ground, firefights continued. Gaddafi forces using warplanes bombed rebel regions such as the town of Ajdabiya.
