A Cairo court on Thursday ruled that the name of toppled president Hosni Mubarak, and that of his wife, Suzanne, be removed from all public sites, the official MENA agency reported. Judge Mohammed Hassan Omar said the names of Hosni Mubarak and his wife Suzanne would be removed from "public squares, streets, libraries and other public institutions around the country."

The former leader is under arrest in a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

The court ordered the Egyptian Prime Minister to implement the ruling. The judge explained his decision by the involvement of Mubarak and his family in many corruption cases.

The Egyptian Ministe of Transport Engineer Atef Abdel Hamid, said that he would not hesitate in implementing the court ruling and lift the name of Mubarak from the metro station. According to him, he will form a committee to study the court ruling. He noted that the new name of the station will be declared soon.
