Egypt's former President Hosni Mubarak received a summons to appear before a Cairo court for questioning and special security is being arranged, al-Ahram newspaper quoted the interior minister as saying. Meanwhile, an Egyptian daily reported Tuesday that Mubarak and his two sons, Gamal and Alaa went by the sea from Sharm el Sheikh, to Tur (Mount) Sinai, the capital of south Sinai governorate for the investigation.
The sources said that Maj. Gen. Mansour Essawy, Egypt's Interior Minister, had sent a letter yesterday to the Security Directorate of South Sinai to raise the level of security alert to maximum in order to secure the headquarters where the former president and his two sons are investigated.
The public prosecutor issued the summons on Sunday as part of probes into the killing of protesters and the embezzlement of public funds.
