Yemeni sources said that two demonstrators were killed and five others were wounded on Wednesday when security forces tried to disperse an opposition sit-in in Taez, while protesters took control of the headquarters of the Ibb governorate.
A medical source at the field hospital in main square of Taez said the demonstrators were killed and five others were wounded by gunfire, bringing the number of demonstrators who were killed in this city since last Sunday to seven people. After the killing of the demonstrators, thousands of people took to the streets and gathered in front of the government buildings, especially in front of the headquarters of state oil company. They blocked the main entrance using iron chains and hung a banner reading: "Closed by the order of the people," witnesses said.
In the capital Sana'a, protestors chanted slogans against the regime in Tahrir Square which is located in the heart of the city.
In Aden, two demonstrators were injured during clashes with security forces. Witnesses said that most of the streets of Aden were closed to traffic as well as trade centers and shops. Residents stayed indoors as sounds of gunfire were heard in different parts of this southern city.
