The fate of the Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh is uncertain. The Yemeni leader was hurt Friday in an attack at his presidential compound. An Arab diplomatic source was quoted as saying on Tuesday that Saleh suffers from one shrapnel wound which is 7 centimeters deep. U.S. government officials briefed on the matter said Saleh suffered burns on 40% of his body and has a collapsed lung.

Saudi state-run Ekhbariya television reported Monday that Saleh had undergone two operations in Saudi Arabia.
