DiegoMaradona was received by Marwan bin Bayat, Chairman of Al Wasl Football Company, when he arrived last night, Wednesday the 3rd of August at 11 pm, to the VIP Private Majlis of Dubai International Airport.

Maradona, who had a very comfortable and pleasant flight on Emirates Airlines, has expressed that he had time to rest on the trip to Dubai but is now ready to get down to the real work.

Marwan bin Bayat, who welcomed the new Head Coach, expressed that, ‘Maradona is not only a guest of Al Wasl, but for Dubai as a whole. As such, we are absolutely certain that he will love his new home and can speak for the entire city when we say, ‘We are happy to have you here’.”

Maradona said, “I am more than excited to be back and I am anxious to start working with the team. I have been constantly thinking of different training methods and new strategies while I was away - even while I was on the plane, new ideas were formulating in my head and I can’t wait to start implementing them on the ground.”

While in South America, Maradona kept in continuous contact with his assistants here in Dubai - asking for updates, status reports and images of Al Wasl training grounds – in order to familiarise himself with proceedings and to be able to jump start into planning and strategizing for the team. He even joked that he got a haircut before coming to Dubai in order to not waste any time while here!
