The project titled “Amman, the Most Beautiful Place”, resumes its activities at Princess Salma Library in Abu Nseir, through holding environment awareness lectures, with participation of the community police, and environment police.
The project launched by the Cultural Department of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) consists of a series of open workshop targeting the children of the ages 12 – 16 years, to be organized at the parks following the Department, more than 20 parks distributed at different regions of GAM.
The project coordinator, Laura Hadid, said that the project contributes to motivating the children towards preserving the environment and all its components.
She pointed out that many workshops were recently held in several cultural libraries and parks in Wadi Al Seer, Rujm Al Shami, Al Rawda Library, Um Qasir Park, Juweideh, Um Al Waleed, and others.
She added that Health Control Department, community police, and environment police have been engaged in presenting lectures to create awareness towards environment, cleanliness, and social relations.
Ms. Hadid clarified that this project will pay a visit to Al Jeezah region on 16 and 21 May 2010, at Al Naseriah and Um AL ‘Amad Libraries, in addition to Al Mgabalein on 17 May, and Ras Al Ein at Um AL Mu’meneen Library by the end of the current month.
The project also includes teaching the children the recycling process of cans, cartons, and plastic wastes by making a flower, or a fish, for example, or in a practical way by crafting a vase, bag, or others.
It is worth noting that the project was launched on 8 May 2010, at Al Rayah AL Hashemiah (the Hashemite Flag) Park in the Sports City, with the aim of promoting the positive social behavior of the young generations, especially in dealing with the surrounding environment, as well as activating the role of the parks and libraries in the local community.
