The third football tournament for Harat Fastlink 2006 will kick off next Thursday on Petra Stadium at Hussein’s Sport City. Thirty six teams from across the Kingdom will take part in the tournaments coinciding with the World Cup Tournaments in Germany.
“Lunching Harat Fastlink initiative aims at spreading football throughout Jordan, and to identify talented players who could form a basis for sports clubs, Fastlink’s General Manager Saad Naser said during a press conference held at the company’s main headquarters. Among the attendees of the conference was Vice President of the Jordan Football Federation Nidal AL-Hadid. Fastlink is one of MTC companies.
“What makes this initiative distinguished is the culmination of hard work to propagate Jordanian football,” he added. Naser stressed that the company has focused on finding young talents and giving players a chance to compete. Besides, Fastlink is sponsoring games and training programs, so that young players will establish a basis for clubs and national teams.
Naser further explained that the company has dealt with football based on two points. The first is to contribute to supporting the Jordan Football Association, clubs and football players, while the second aims to enhance competition. Therefore, Fastlink has provided support and sponsored the national teams and a number of clubs.
The tournament, which first kicked off in 2004, will include 36 teams of three age groups: those born in the years of 1994, 1995 and 1996. It is open for the governorates of Jerash, Ajloun, AL Ramtha, Irbi, Zarqa, Slat, Madaba, Karak, Tafileh in addition to Amman.
“Our message is to continue selecting the best players in the tournaments and providing regular training for them,” stressed Naser. This is to ensure that they will have the best opportunities to enhance their skills, so that they will become an ideal basis for Jordanian clubs that wish to have them as their members.
Faslink plays a major role in contributing to the Jordanian sports clubs. The company has recently established “Fastlink Sports Club” whose team managed to snatch national, Arab and international basketball titles. The company has also contributed to supporting the Jordan Football Association activities including the Faisali and Wihdat Teams.
Organized in cooperation with the School Sports Federation and the JFA, the tournament seeks to encourage football as part of Fastlink’s long- term strategy to support the youth and sports sectors to enable them to compete at the Arab and international level.
The tournaments, which coincide with the summer vacation, aim at spreading football among the young players, and encouraging them to exercise through providing incentives and recognizing the winning teams.
The tournament also seeks to spread the game in less privileged areas, and to find new talents among players between the 10-12 age groups. Based on the finals, the best players from the participating governorates will be selected, and divided into groups efficiently provided that they compete in order to claim the title of the governorate and then the Kingdom.
