Bayt.com, the Middle East’s number one job site, has signed a knowledge sharing agreement with Dubai-based research consultancy YouGovSiraj.

Rabea Ataya, CEO of Bayt.com, said: “No company in our field understands the region like we do. Joining forces with YouGovSiraj underlines this leadership and empowers employers with more knowledge to identify the best candidates and stay ahead of labour market trends.”

He said: “Both employers and job seekers need a greater understanding of key industry issues like salary trends, job satisfaction, workplace norms and the fluctuating legal environment for hiring. Working with a research leader like YouGovSiraj helps address critical knowledge gaps with the maximum reliability and accuracy, and reinforces Bayt.com’s reputation as the Middle East’s leading career planning and recruitment resource.”

YouGovSiraj will use Bayt.com’s one million-strong user database to conduct tailor-made surveys across industry sectors. Ataya added: “The region’s business community continues to move online, and Bayt.com and YouGovSiraj are two of the most trusted names in their respective industries. The speed, flexibility and security of web research have substantial unexplored potential in the Middle East.”

UK-based YouGov acquired its Middle East peer Siraj in July 2006. It operates its own Middle East research panel of 26,000 users and serves clients across the GCC, Lebanon and North Africa, as well as in Iran, Turkey and Pakistan. Focus industries include consumer and financial services.

Commenting on the partnership with Bayt.com, Nassim Ghrayeb, CEO of YouGovSiraj and the co-founder of Siraj in 1999, said: “Bayt.com’s scale and experience offer tremendous opportunities. This partnership brings together the qualitative research experience of YouGovSiraj and the HR knowledge of Bayt to offer new synergies to our shared and separate clients.”

Ghrayeb added that YouGovSiraj has already embarked on a CSR-related research project on behalf of a multinational client using the Bayt.com database. The tie-up will also produce surveys specific to Bayt.com projects and jointly branded industry white papers.

With a database of more than one million users, mostly from around the GCC but also the wider Middle East, Africa, Asia, North America and Europe, Bayt.com already conducts its own research into pressing employment issues through its popular online polls.

Bayt.com’s Ataya said: “Bayt.com has encouraged a healthy regional debate into work and lifestyle issues through its online polls, from prejudice in the workplace to work-related stress, and this forum will continue. Our partnership with YouGovSiraj will enable us to produce more detailed and scientific research, and increase our competitive advantage.”
