100 injured after train derailed in Volgograd, Russia

ALBAWABA - A train reportedly derailed in the Russian city of Volgograd, injuring at least 100 people with the numbers expected to rise in the upcoming.

Emergency teams have raced to the site of a passenger train disaster in Russia's southern Volgograd area, according to the state-run RIA news agency. Initial estimates indicate a high casualty rate.

Eight train cars drifted off the rails under the train. Eyewitnesses reported scenes of chaos as emergency responders worked to evacuate passengers and provide medical assistance.

"According to preliminary data, eight carriages of the Kazan-Adler train derailed as a result of the accident, some of them overturned. There are casualties. Their exact number is currently being determined," TASS news agency reported, citing emergency services official.
