According to reports, more than 50 people were on board the ill-fated vessel, all of whom ended up in the water after the boat encountered difficulties near Cap Gris-Nez.

ALBAWABA- In a tragic incident early this morning, at least 12 migrants have lost their lives after a boat capsized in the English Channel near Pas-de-Calais, off the coast of Wimereux, France. 

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed the death cases, adding that two individuals remain missing, and several others are injured.

The French coastguard has launched a massive search and rescue operation involving both sea and air units. Emergency services have been working tirelessly since 11:30 AM local time (09:30 GMT) to rescue those in distress. 

According to reports, more than 50 people were on board the ill-fated vessel, all of whom ended up in the water after the boat encountered difficulties near Cap Gris-Nez.

Many of the survivors are in critical condition and are receiving emergency medical care. The situation remains fluid, with rescue teams continuing their efforts to locate the missing and provide aid to the survivors.
