Thirteen shopping malls in Dubai have extended support to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in raising awareness about electricity and water conservation as part of its "Your Decision" campaign.
The mass awareness campaign focused on providing people with information on how and why to reduce the consumption of electricity as a responsible citizen. This was done by distributing brochures and leaflets and arranging puppet shows which included "Splashy and Sparky" and “Abu Saeed Family” cartoon characters.
The campaign attempted to influence consumer behavior on issues like wastage of water and electricity, by making use of visual and written communications material that provided facts and detailed messages on the critical importance of saving our natural resources.
Eng. Amal Koshak, Senior Manager – Demand & Tariff Management said: "DEWA’s responsibility does not end with delivering power and water to consumers; we believe it is equally important to drive home the message about conservation of natural resources. We got tremendous response from consumers who expressed their pleasure over sincere efforts to enlighten them on lesser known aspects of energy and water conservation".
Eng. Amal Koshak added: "Shopping malls are ideal venues for mass campaigns because we get an opportunity to interact with consumers in a leisurely environment, and convey our messages in a fun way."
Eng. Amal Koshak thanked the shopping malls for their role in making this campaign a success, proving once again the fruitful cooperation between private and public sectors. The supporting shopping malls included Lamcy Plaza, Ibn Battuta Mall, Wafi Center, Dragon Mart, Abraj Center, Al Khaleej Center, Emirates Towers, Mercato, Mall of Emirates, Dubai Outlet Mall, Times Square Center, Bin Sugat Mall as well as food courts in JAFZA and Enoc petrol stations.
DEWA had booked sites at these malls since the launch of the "Your Decision" campaign. The activities were carried out through special DEWA booths erected at these shopping
centers. Brochures and visuals highlighting conservation messages were displayed and puppet shows were staged around these booths. DEWA is currently continuing these activities at the Global Village.
