More than 200 exhibitors and international brands from 24 countries will showcase a wide range of innovative products and services at the region’s only trade fair for the horticultural industry, IPM Dubai (International Plants Expo Middle East), which runs from March 6 - 8, 2007.

With a goal to further promote Dubai as the strategic hub for horticultural trade, the exhibition is supported by the Dubai Flower Centre, the Department of Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Municipality and the Ministry of Environment and Water.

Taking place at the Airport Expo Dubai, the trade fair will showcase a wide variety of flowers and plants including indoor and outdoor plants, cut flowers, nursery shrubs and vegetables.

Visitors will also be able to see the latest technology and techniques in greenhouse construction, transportation and lifting equipment, landscaping, irrigation, plant protection and seed plantation, along with floristry accessories and sales promotion items such as shop design products.

“With the increasing trend of using plants and flowers for special occasions and events, along with a growing number of landscaping and green projects throughout the GCC, local retailers and producers are faced with the challenge to provide more diversity, expertise and distinctive services,” said Michael Mueller, Managing Director, planetfair Dubai LLC, organisers of IPM Dubai.

“IPM Dubai is an indispensable platform for industry leaders to interact and exchange ideas to address this challenge. It will give regional market players the opportunity to experience the latest innovations, track new trends and compare their operations with global industry standards,” he added.

Egon Galinnis, Managing Director, Messe Essen GmbH, organisers of the parent event in Essen, Germany added: “With the successful launch of the Dubai Flower Centre and the UAE now established as a central trade platform for plants and flowers in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent, we have no doubt that the region will soon reach international levels in terms of capacity and operation standards. All the industry needs is a boost, which we hope the exhibition will offer.”

The biggest market for horticultural trade is Germany estimated at approximately 8.7 billion euros with an average per-head consumption of more than 105 euros.

IPM Dubai 2007 will house national pavilions from Colombia, Egypt, Taiwan, Germany and South Africa. The German pavilion is one of the largest with more than 20 exhibitors. Other countries include Italy, Belgium, Jordan, France, Sweden, China, Ecuador, Kenya, Netherlands, Spain, Ukraine, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Canada, UAE Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

To run alongside the exhibition, IPM Dubai will feature flower decoration demonstrations by champion florist Manfred Hoffmann daily at 3pm and two-hour workshops on flower arrangements and practical tips on March 7 and 8 starting at 11.30 am. Seminars on ‘Modern Greenhouses for Plant Production - Construction, Coverings, Interior Equipment’ will also take place daily at 2 pm.
