The 2009 Executive Secretary, PA and Office Manager Forum

The 2009 Middle East PA of the Year Award will this year be held alongside IIR’s 2009 Executive Secretary, PA and Office Manager Forum, to celebrate Administrative Professionals’ Week in the region. The event will run for six days from 18 April in Dubai, and will include an exciting mix of workshops, presentations, and discussion sessions addressing the main challenges face by top admin professionals, as well as the Award presentation. IIR has introduced the award to recognise the valuable role that PAs and other admin professionals play in their organisations.

Administrative Professionals’ Day, formerly known as Secretary's Day, is observed each year on the Wednesday of the last full week of April; that is April 22 this year. It recognises the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, office managers, PAs, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals.

The two-day Executive Secretary, PA and Office Manager event is divided into four zones – Challenge, Office, Relationship and Wellbeing – each packed with sessions that will help executive secretaries upgrade their skills and recharge their batteries. Top UK coach and trainer Susie Barron-Stubley of Castalia Coaching, who has trained hundreds of PAs around the world, will share her considerable expertise with the PAs who attend. There will also be an appearance by the 2008 ME PA of the Year, Sarah Hadfield, who will reveal some of the secrets which made her a top flight PA.

Simon Bucknall, the 2008 European Champion of Public Speaking will be offering up practical advice on mastering business presentations, and Richard Mullender, a former hostage negotiator, will show you how to negotiate your way through any business situation.  To reduce the pressure of today’s stressful working environment, delegates will learn great tips to improve their posture with coffee break Pilates, and Dubai Drums will lead an energising session which will demonstrate excellent team work in action.

The event programme is based on extensive research conducted with executive secretaries and other admin professionals throughout the GCC region, and is designed to renew, recognise and reward these often under-valued and over-looked staff members.
