ALBAWABA- Nearly 30 people, including a child, were injured—one critically—after a tour bus overturned on its way to Niagara Falls early Thursday morning.
The incident, which occurred on I-490 in Chili, near Rochester, forced authorities to close parts of the highway, as reported by the New York Post.
The bus, traveling from New York City, rolled over shortly after midnight. First responders arrived at the scene, where the bus lay on its side with debris scattered around.
Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter described the situation as “surreal,” acknowledging it was an unexpected emergency.
Among the 28 hospitalized, one person remains in critical condition. Authorities are treating the crash as a potential criminal matter, though no evidence of foul play has been found, and drugs or alcohol are not suspected as factors.
As the investigation continues, parts of I-490 between exits 4 and 3 remain closed to allow emergency teams to work. Governor Kathy Hochul urged drivers to find alternate routes while the scene is cleared.
