ALBAWABA - An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 took place in the Marmara Sea, off the coast of Marmaraereğlisi, Tekirdağ, at 2:55 p.m. local time, Turkey's AFAD posted on X.

Reuters reported that the earthquake had shaken the buildings in Istanbul, freaking people out as they rushed to the streets.

According to the AFAD disaster center, the quake hit at a depth of 6.71 km.
